Wedding Season

Wedding Season is upon us. I was a June bride - almost 27 years ago!!! Hard to believe. I remember when I was stressing about my dress, veil, shoes, and of course jewelry. What would I wear? My Mom had a lovely pearl bracelet that was my Maternal Grandmother's. I also had a sweet little pearl bracelet that one of my bridesmaids allowed me to wear. Rumor had it I was going to receive a string of pearls from my beloved. True story . . . I did get a beautiful strand of Miki Moto creamy white pearls that I cherish even today. Pearls seem to be the mainstay of any Wedding wardrobe. But for today, anything goes. I love a little bit of bling to go along with pearls. Okay, so I am a traditionalist!!! So, without really knowing it, I have a handful of pieces in the shop that would make the perfect "Wedding" statement this season. From a beautiful 3-strand pearl and crystal necklace to a simple and lovely pale pink bracelet. What will you be wearing??? Skip over to http://www.tippystockton.etsy.com.

What's in STORE for Spring . . .

Well, that's a loaded question!!! Why, you ask???
Because there's a lot going on!
The shop is full of wonderful new designs for Spring. Beautiful colors to inspire your Springtime wardrobe as well as wonderful gifts for Easter and Mother's Day. Take a look at the photo collage below and see for yourself.

I just picked up my copy of a brand new magazine called "Flea Market Style". OMGosh, if you haven't seen this magazine, you need to rush out and get yourself a copy. This magazine is chock full of amazing photographs, and it includes stories about a few people here in my backyard (well not literally, okay, close-by). You'll be introduced to Joe and Jermonne, affectionately known as the Barn House Boys!!! These two young men have such an eye for design and share their story and their home with you on the pages of this magazine. Then there's Cindy from Land of Tarte. Talent beyond compare!!! These folks all hail from the Portland, Oregon area. I've had the pleasure of meeting them at some of their past shows and I'm excited to be giving you some breaking news today . . . I will be sharing the concrete with them this coming June at a little show (little, who am I kidding?) in Spokane called The Farm Chicks Show.

TIPPY STOCKTON IS A VENDOR @ FARM CHICKS!!!

Excited, Giddy, Scared to Death!!! Just a few of the emotions that I'm feeling right now. Here's a map in case you want to know where the show is (this wonderful little map is printed in the Flea Market Style Magazine - there you will see the entire U S of A, not just little old Washington State.

So more news on the Show as we get closer. Until then, get thinking about Spring . . . we have had a taste here in the Pacific Northwest. So lovely!!! As always, if you have any questions, just fire away. Contact me @ tippystockton@aol.com. Check out my Facebook Page too for up to the minute information and specials. Sign up to become a fan; write a note on my "wall", and I'll send you a special coupon!!!

Back to the Studio I go!!! Patricia :)

Sending you "Vintage" Love

My Other Passion
I took full advantage of the glorious weather this past week. It felt so good to get into my Studio, pop the lids off some of my bins and take a peek at the goodies that were carefully wrapped in tissue paper. I was once again reminded why I love Vintage glass. From the lace edge on a sweet milk glass candy dish, to the bumps on a piece of Fenton hobnail, the simplicity and elegance of these pieces makes my heart pitter patter. Thus the LOVE AFFAIR. Could it be that my Mom loved glass; from Waterford crystal and Beleek from my homeland, to some of the German glass that was my Grandmother's prized possessions. Hard to say, but I love it all!

I was able to capture the magic of these pieces this weekend as I gotRemove Formatting from selection them ready to be photographed. You too can fall in love . . . I've just listed these beautiful pieces for sale on my other ETSY Shop, www.tippystextilesnstuff.etsy.com. Have fun perusing and becoming infatuated with these lovely bits of history.

Calling all Washington State Junkers!!!

I am so excited to be able to tell you about a new show coming up in a couple of weeks. If you live in the Pacific Northwest, you'll get a preview of the upcoming show season. Calling all junkers is a little misleading!!! This is not "junk" in the true sense of the word. These are folks that have an eye for amazing things. It gives repurposing a whole new meaning!!!

Timi, she's the sweet gal behind getting this show together has a fantastic weekend to share with all of you. The first 30 people into the show on either day gets a goody bag. The bag itself is worth being early. She'll also be selling tickets for her "Junk Bus" for the upcoming Farm Chicks Show in Spokane. Rumor has it, that bus trip will be a winner. Check out her website for more information on that at www.comejunkwithus.com.

So, get a head start on "Junking Season" by attending this great show!

It's my 1st ETSYversary . . .
A year ago, my life was a mess. I was, as one might say, at a crossroads. I didn't have a "real" job, my only son was away at college, and my beloved Mom had just passed away. I had stepped away from my job at a small shop in town after my Dad had passed away just months before. I felt very alone - probably one of the darkest times in my life. This is not me - I'm generally a very happy go lucky person; big smile and hearty laugh. I came home and sort of wandered around for weeks not sure what I should be doing.
So what was this girl to do? I had been creating jewelry for many years, selling at a couple of local shops and to sweet girlfriends who wanted to support my little venture. I did have an ETSY account. I had bought a few things from other artists, actually had listed a couple of pairs of earrings that were featured with really bad photographs. Really, what was I thinking. So I woke up one day and decided that life was going to pass me by if I didn't get it figured out. So I literally spent hours upon hours scouring ETSY about how to take good photographs and set up shop in Kellan's room. I purchased some new beads and just went to town. In a few short days I had a little collection that I thought I would list. I took the photographs, they were just okay. Nothing great, but each time I took a photo, they got better. I figured out that lighting was crucial. So I had to wait many a day for a sunny spot here in Seattle. I listed my first grouping and waited . . . and waited . . . and waited. I had a few sales here and there, but nothing to write home about and certainly not enough to pay the bills if this was to be my "new job". John and I took off on a trip to Florida in August and while I was gone, I spent the days scouring magazines for inspiration. When we returned, I jumped back in and got going on new designs - I found a fellow ETSYian (thank you Phaedra) who had amazing filigree findings, and that's how Tippy Stockton took off. My Caliente earrings went bonkers. Okay, so this was fun. People were liking my jewelry - YES!!! Oh, and how could I forget, John and my neighbor Jerry built me a new Studio in our backyard. What a place - great light, everything in its place, and such a wonderful spot to go to each day for WORK!!! I had made a a lofty goal for myself; 100 SALES by Christmas!!! Boy was I being overzealous!!! As the days ticked by and the sales kept coming, I thought for a minute that 100 sales could happen. And happen it did!!! By Christmas, I had surpassed 100 sales. Way past 100 sales and looking at 150. YAY! So I could do this.
So, now I'm committed. I have a handful of Wholesale Accounts (yes I love my Wholesale Accounts), I'm about to be represented in the Midwest by a lovely young lady, and I'm dedicated to finding even more wonderful shops and boutiques across the country to have a spot for Tippy Stockton.
I'm also excited to share some news with you! In April, I will be flying off to St. Louis with my sweet friend Cindy to attend the Mary Engelbreit Workshop. I'll be meeting with many wonderful designers who started their careers like me. Kaari from French General is of particular interest to me as she has a lovely jewelry line. There are others too who I have my sights set on for tips of the trade. Can't wait.
Stay tuned . . . Tippy Stockton isn't going anywhere!!! I'll have more "breaking" news to share with you soon. I'm in Studio every day designing and loving life. I've just listed many new items to the shop, so I hope that you'll head over and check them out. http://www.tippystockton.etsy.com/. As always, if you have any questions, suggestions, or just want to chat, FIRE AWAY!!!
Oh, and one more thing . . . to celebrate my anniversary, here's my gift to you.
20% off anything RED in February
20% off anything GREEN in March
Make sure you type "anniversary" in notes to seller. I will issue you a purchase credit through PayPal upon completion of the transaction.
I couldn't have done this without all of you!!!
Thank you fans of
Tippy Stockton and ME!
You're all awesome and I can't wait for 2010.
